EPA Proposal to revise the Guideline on Air Quality Models
Published Date: 7/16/15
On July 14, 2015, the Administrator signed a proposal to revise the Guideline on Air Quality Models. The Guideline provides EPA-recommended models and other techniques, as well as guidance for their use and predicting ambient concentrations of air pollutants. The proposed changes will enhance the formulation and application of the agency’s AERMOD dispersion model, prescribe modeling techniques for secondarily formed fine particle and ozone pollution for single sources and makes various editorial improvements.

The proposal also announced the 11th Conference on Air Quality Modeling and invited the public to participate in the conference. The conference will focus on the revisions EPA proposes to the Guideline and will serve as the public hearing for these revisions.

The 11th Conference on Air Quality Models, mandated by Section 320 of the Clean Air Act, is scheduled for August 12th through 13th, 2015 at EPA Headquarters in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina. The afternoon of August 13, 2015, is reserved for the public hearing on this proposed rule.

The proposal, a summary fact sheet and the draft agenda for the 11th Conference on Air Quality Models is available here: http://www.epa.gov/ttn/scram/11thmodconf.htm

EPA will accept comments on the proposal for 90 days after it is published in the Federal Register.
