Industrial Process Cooling Towers -  Subpart Q

Applicability: eCFR Subpart Q [ecfr.gov]

This subpart applies to:
  1. Industrial process cooling towers that are operated with chromium-based water treatment chemicals and are either Major Sources or located at Major Sources of HAPs*.

"Chromium-based water treatment chemicals" means any combination of chemicals containing chromium used to treat water.

*Major Sources of HAPs emit or have the potential to emit:
  • ≥ 10 tons/year of any single HAP; or
  • ≥ 25 tons/year of total HAPs.
  • Area Sources emit less than Major Sources.
