The Swimming Pool Program provides oversight and inspections of public swimming pools. Staff inspect all public swimming pools/spas located at hotels, apartments, municipalities and recreational facilities. During inspections staff check water chemistry, safety equipment, personnel training and mechanical areas.
The program also provides training to individuals who would like to become pool operators within the State of Nebraska. Pool Operator Certification Information *

Swimming Pool Engineering Program
Under the Nebraska Swimming pool Act, no swimming pool shall be constructed after January 1, 1970, unless and until plans, specifications, and any additional information relative to such pool as may be requested by the Department of Health and Human Services shall have been submitted to such department and after review by such department found to comply with the minimum sanitary and safety requirements provided in section 71-4302 and a permit for the construction of the pool issued by such department. The Engineering Section provides engineering reviews and issuance of construction permits for all new public swimming pools/spas and substantial modifications to these facilities as defined in Title 178 NAC 2. To obtain a construction permit, one (1) hard copy of the plans, specifications and pool data sheet along with electronic copies in a flash drive or CD need to be submitted for review and approval.
