June 2023 Monthly Metrics

NDEE produces a monthly metrics report to measure what the agency has accomplished; to set annual and longer-term goals; and to examine these goals against accomplishments to ensure continuous process improvements.

Accomplishments
  • NDEE’s water/wastewater engineering teams have reviewed roughly 300 projects so far in 2023. For the past six months, the average number of days to issue a construction permit was 13.49 days.
  • The Petroleum Remediation Section has saved more than $350,000 so far this year by reusing its remediation equipment. Between 1995 and 2022, reusing equipment has saved taxpayers more than $7 million. Following remediation, the state owns the equipment. Reusing this equipment provides a cost savings to taxpayers and prevents waste from being sent to the landfill.
  • The Energy Program submitted two applications for federal grants available through the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) grants: the Grid Resilience Formula Grant to State and Indian Tribes and the SEP Energy Efficiency Revolving Loan Fund. The agency also received approval from the U.S. Department of Energy on its application for the State Energy Plan grant through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law funding (BIL).

Miscellaneous
  • The Grants Section began accepting applications for the 2024 Waste, Litter, and Scrap Tire grant awards through August 9. An estimated $3 million will be available for Litter grants and $4.5 million for Waste grants. The program is also hosting a statewide webinar in July for applicants to help them through the online application process.
