November 2022 Monthly Metrics



NDEE produces a monthly metrics report to measure what the agency has accomplished; to set annual and longer-term goals; and to examine these goals against accomplishments to ensure continuous process improvements.















Accomplishments
  • NDEE sent out a letter Nov. 1, 2022, to all industrial storm water permittees notifying them that they needed to obtain coverage under the new ISW general permit, issued April 1, 2022. Coverage under the previous general permit expired Sept. 28, 2022. This resulted in more than 100 facilities applying or finishing their application in progress.
  • The Drinking Water Field Services Section awarded 59 public water system security grants, providing a total of $450,000. Grants providing funding for GIS mapping, generators, doors, fencing, locks and other equipment used for the security of public water systems.
  • The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) conducted a desktop review of the financial monitoring policies and procedures put in place by NDEE for its State Energy Program (SEP) Formula Grant. This review examined the SEP Formula Grant with a period of performance from July 1, 2019, to June 30, 2022, encompassing State of Nebraska Fiscal Years 2020, 2021, and 2022. DOE’s review found NDEE to be in compliance with all State and Federal policies, procedures, and guidance related to the financial management and programmatic controls of the SEP Formula Grant that was reviewed.

Misc.
  • The Environmental Quality Council approved the Litter Reduction and Recycling Grant Program’s 2023 litter percent allocation during its Nov. 10 meeting. At this meeting, the EQC also approved amendments to Title 118 – Groundwater Quality Standards and Use Classification and Title 119 – Rules and Regulations Pertaining to the Issuance of Permits under the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System.
