The Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality (NDEQ) proposes to reissue with change the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) General Permit NER220000 for the Small Municipal Separate Storm Sewer Systems (sMS4) Located in Douglas and Sarpy Counties in the State of Nebraska in accordance to the NDEQ Title 119 – Rules and Regulations Pertaining to the Issuance of Permits under the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System. The permit authorizes storm water discharges from a sMS4 located in Douglas and Sarpy Counties to the waters of the state. The Bureau of Census latest Decennial Census was used to identify the eligible municipalities. The primary function of the permit is to reduce and /or control pollutant discharges from the sMS4. The draft permit contains Best Management Practices (BMPs) to regulate the pollutant discharges from a sMS4. The permit would be issued for a period of up to five years and would restrict pollutant discharges to comply with the requirements of Department regulations. The draft permit, fact sheet and other public information are available for review at NDEQ’s Lincoln Office (address below) between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. weekdays, excluding holidays.
