NOTICE OF INTENT TO RENEW AND MODIFY PERMIT #NE0204081
for ABE’S TRASH SERVICE, INC. CONSTRUCTION & DEMOLITION WASTE DISPOSAL AREA
under consideration by the
Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality

PUBLIC NOTICE is given in accordance with Title 132 - Integrated Solid Waste Management Regulations, Chapter 2, §011, that the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality (NDEQ) has received an application to renew and modify the permit of Abe’s Trash Service, Inc. Construction & Demolition Waste Disposal Area, 8123 Christensen Lane, Omaha, NE. After review of the permit application, a preliminary determination has been made to recommend renewal and modification of the permit. The term of the permit shall be February 16, 2018 through February 15, 2023.

FACILITY DESCRIPTION. The permit allows the operation of an existing construction and demolition waste disposal area under Nebraska's solid waste management laws and regulations. The construction and demolition waste disposal area shall accept waste which results from land clearing, the demolition of buildings, roads, or other structures, including, but not limited to, fill materials, wood, land clearing debris other than yard waste, wall covering, drywall, plaster, non-asbestos insulation, roofing shingles and other roof coverings, plumbing fixtures, glass, plastic, carpeting, electrical wiring, pipe, and metals.

FACILITY LOCATION. The property is located ½ mile south of 8123 Christensen Lane and ½ mile west on Dutch Hall Road, (10010 Dutch Hall Road) Omaha, NE. The legal description of E ½ SW ¼ & W ½ SE ¼ Section 33 Township 17 North Range 12 East of the 6th Principal Meridian Washington County, Nebraska.

MAJOR MODIFICATION. A major modification (vertical expansion) on the northern limits and extension of the central high point to the north is to facilitate future drainage and to accommodate additional air space. The net increase from the current permitted volume is approximately 124,000 CY. The elevation of the highest point will not be increased.

OPPORTUNITY FOR PUBLIC COMMENT AND HEARING. The public may submit written comments and may also request a public hearing on the permitting decision. A request for a hearing must be made in writing and state the issues proposed for discussion and their relation to the proposed permit renewal. The NDEQ will make a final decision to renew or deny the permit based on the permit application, the compliance status of Abe’s Trash Service, Inc. Construction & Demolition Waste Disposal Area, and public comment received. NDEQ will publish notice of the final decision and notify the applicant and other interested persons.

COMMENT PERIOD. All comments or requests for a hearing must be postmarked by November 27, 2017.
