NOTICE OF PERMIT ISSUANCE The Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality (NDEQ) proposes to reissue with change a Nebraska Pretreatment Program (NPP) permit to Cargill Meat Solutions Corporation, 1529 23rd St. East, Columbus, NE (NPP# NE0133183; SIC 2013), a processor of beef, pork, chicken, and turkey trimmings by grinding, forming, freezing, and packaging of finished products. Treated process and non-process wastewater is discharged through Outfall 001 to the City of Columbus POTW which discharges treated wastewater to the Loup River, segment LO1-10000 of the Loup River Basin. The permit would be issued for a period of up to five years and would restrict pollutant discharges to comply with the requirements of Department regulations. The draft permit, fact sheet and other public information are available for review at NDEQ’s Lincoln Office (address below) between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. weekdays, excluding holidays. A determination to hold a hearing will be based upon factual environmental or regulatory consideration.
