PUBLIC NOTICE OF SURETY RELEASE

Pursuant to Title 135, Rules and Regulations for Mineral Exploration Holes, Chapter 7, the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality (NDEQ) is proposing to release Surety for Mineral Exploration in Saunders County, Nebraska. Western Sand & Gravel Company, 330 County Rd. B, PO Box 28, Ashland, NE 68003 has completed mineral exploration under Mineral Exploration Permit NE0211987. This site is located in Saunders County, Nebraska near Ashland.

Western Sand & Gravel Company has completed mineral exploration hole abandonment and site reclamation as outlined in the above referenced permit. All of the mineral exploration holes were drilled on and reclaimed on cropland between November 2016-January 2017. All of the holes were reclaimed in accordance with the mineral exploration permit. A site inspection was conducted by NDEQ personnel to confirm statements from Western Sand & Gravel Company.

Persons may request a fact sheet, may comment upon or object to the release of the surety, or may request a public hearing by writing to Marty Link, Water Quality Division Administrator, NDEQ, P.O. Box 98922, Lincoln, Nebraska 68509-8922, prior to April 18, 2017. A request for public hearing shall state the nature of the issues proposed to be raised at a hearing. All comments shall be considered prior to making a decision regarding a public hearing. If NDEQ receives substantive comments regarding this proposed surety release, a public hearing may be scheduled.

Copies of the fact sheet and all information pertaining to the surety release will be available for viewing and copying at NDEQ, Suite 400, 1200 N Street, The Atrium, in Lincoln between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. weekdays, or mailed upon request.
