NOTICE OF PERMIT ISSUANCE

The Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality (NDEQ) proposes to reissue with change the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit for Andrew M. Galinsky, Sioux City Foundry, 2400 G Street, South Sioux City, NE (NPDES# NE0132411; SIC 3321) a Gray and Ductile Iron Foundry. Outfall 001 discharge is from the evaporative cooling tower blowdown. Outfall 002 discharge is from two seasonal sources: blowdown and overflow from recycled, non-contact cooling water from evaporative cooling tower and a single pass cooling system from the Kloster secondary coil. Outfall 003 discharge originates from a single-pass, non-contact cooling water system used in an annealing oven. The three outfalls discharge to a storm drainage system prior the entering the Missouri River, segment MT1-10000 of the Missouri River Basin. The permit would be issued for a period of up to five years and would restrict pollutant discharges to comply with the requirements of Department regulations. The draft permit, fact sheet and other public information are available for review at NDEQ’s Lincoln Office (address below) between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. weekdays, excluding holidays.
