The Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality (NDEQ) proposes to issue a new Nebraska Pretreatment Program (NPP) permit for Lincoln Cold Storage, 1700 South Folsom Street, Lincoln, (NPP # NE0139513; SIC 2047), a facility which grinds meat for dog food and freezes it in trays until it is sold. Treated process wastewater is discharged through Outfall 001 to Salt Creek, Segment LP2-20000, in the Lower Platte Basin via the City of Lincoln Theresa Street Water Resource Recovery Facility. The permit would be issued for a period of up to five years and would restrict pollutant discharges to comply with the requirements of Department regulations. The draft permit, fact sheet and other public information are available for review at NDEQ’s Lincoln Office (address below) between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. weekdays, excluding holidays. A determination to hold a hearing will be based upon factual environmental or regulatory consideration.
