NOTICE OF PERMIT ISSUANCE

The Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality (NDEQ) proposes to issue a new National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit to Lyman Richey for the Lyman Richey – Gretna Bottoms Reserve, 24802 Fairview Road, Gretna, NE (NPDES# NE0139386; SIC 1442). The industrial sand and gravel mining operation discharges process water from the sluicing and sand through Outfall 001 to an undesignated tributary of Western Sarpy Ditch, segment LP1-11700 of the Lower Platte River Basin. The permit would be issued for a period of up to five years and would restrict pollutant discharges to comply with the requirements of Department regulations. The draft permit, fact sheet and other public information are available for review at NDEQ’s Lincoln Office (address below) between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. weekdays, excluding holidays. A determination to hold a hearing will be based upon factual environmental or regulatory consideration.
