NOTICE OF PERMIT ISSUANCE

The Nebraska Department of Environment and Energy (NDEE) proposes to reissue with change a National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) to the City of Grand Island for the C.W. Burdick Generating Station, 805 E. Bischeld St., Grand Island, NE (NPDES# NE0001074; SIC 4911). The publicly owned electric generating facility discharges non-contact cooling water and non-process wastewater through Outfall 001, Outfall 002, Outfall 003 and Outfall 004 to the Wood River, Segment MP2-10100 in the Middle Platte River Basin, via the Grand Island Utilities Ditch. The permit would be issued for a period of up to five years and would restrict pollutant discharges to comply with the requirements of Department regulations. The draft permit, fact sheet, and other public information are available for review at NDEE’s Lincoln Office (address below) between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. weekdays, excluding holidays.
