The Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality (NDEQ) proposes to reissue with change a Nebraska Pretreatment Program (NPP) permit to C. J. Foods, Inc., 71045 HWY 50, Pawnee City, NE (NPP# NE0132683; SIC 2047; 2048), a manufacturer of pet and animal food products from plant and animal substances. The combined wastewater of process wash water, non-contact cooling water and domestic sewage is treated in the pretreatment system consisting of two septic tanks that flow to a grease interceptor followed by a lift station which pumps the wastewater to an aeration basin. The permit would be issued for a period of up to five years and would restrict pollutant discharges to comply with the requirements of Department regulations. The draft permit, fact sheet and other public information are available for review at NDEQ’s Lincoln Office (address below) between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. weekdays, excluding holidays.
