NOTICE OF PERMIT ISSUANCE

The Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality (NDEQ) proposes to reissue with change the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System/Nebraska Pretreatment (NPDES/ NPP) permit for the Hornady Manufacturing Company, 3625 W. Old Potash Hwy, Grand Island, NE (NPDES/NPP# NE0121720; SIC 3482). The manufacturer of small arms ammunition discharges non-process single-pass non-contract cooling wastewater through Outfall 002 to an undesignated tributary of Warm Slough, draining to the Platte River, segment MP1-20000 in the Middle Platte River Basin. Process water discharges through Outfall 003 to the Grand Island Utilities Ditch, which flows to the Wood River, segment MP2 -10100 in the Middle Platte River Basin, via The Grand Island WWTF. The permit would be issued for a period of up to five years and would restrict pollutant discharges to comply with the requirements of Department regulations. The draft permit, fact sheet and other public information are available for review at NDEQ’s Lincoln Office (address below) between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. weekdays, excluding holidays.
