NOTICE OF PERMIT ISSUANCE

The Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality (NDEQ) proposes to reissue with change the Nebraska Pretreatment Permit (NPP) for General Dynamics Ordinance & Tactical Systems, Inc., 4300 Industrial Ave., Lincoln NE (NPP# NE0060062; SIC 3764). The manufacturer of composite structures for defense and aerospace applications discharges metal finishing process wastewater. Outfall 001 is an internal discharge wastewater from titanium and aluminum etching. The Outfall 003 discharge consists of deionization regeneration water, motercase wash system, cooling tower blowdown, and cooling tower bypass water. Outfall 006 is the discharge of water from the sand mandrel washout. Discharges flow to Salt Creek, segment LP2-20000 in the Lower Platte River Basin, via the City of Lincoln Theresa Street publicly owned treatment works. The permit would be issued for a period of up to five years and would restrict pollutant discharges to comply with the requirements of Department regulations. The draft permit, fact sheet and other public information are available for review at NDEQ’s Lincoln Office (address below) between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. weekdays, excluding holidays.
