NOTICE OF PERMIT ISSUANCE



The Nebraska Department of Environment and Energy (NDEE) proposes to modify the Nebraska Pretreatment Program (NPP) permit to Becton Dickinson and Company, 920 East 19th Street, Columbus, NE d/b/a Becton Dickinson-Pharmaceutical Systems, (NPP# NE0134180; SIC 3841), a manufacturer of syringes and other medical devices. This facility discharges process, non-process, and sanitary wastewater through Outfall 001 to the Loup River, Segment LO1-10000 in the Loup River Basin, via the City of Columbus publicly owned treatment works. Proposed modifications include the addition of Outfall 002 which also discharges to the Loup River, Segment LO1-10000 in the Loup River Basin, via the City of Columbus publicly owned treatment works. Updates to general conditions and requirements have also been proposed. The permit modification will not change the expiration date of the permit and will continue to restrict pollutant discharges to comply with the requirements of Department regulations. The draft permit, fact sheet, and other public information are available for review at NDEE’s Lincoln Office (address below) between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. weekdays, excluding holidays.
