NOTICE OF PERMIT ISSUANCE

The Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality (NDEQ) proposes to reissue with change the Nebraska Pretreatment Program (NPP) permit to Becton Dickinson & Company, 1 Becton Dr., Franklin Lakes, NJ d/b/a Becton Dickinson & Company – Medication and Procedural Solutions, 1852 10th Avenue, Columbus, NE (NPP# NE0060089; SIC 3841, 2834). This facility manufactures syringes and other medical devices. The facility discharges non-contact cooling water, sanitary wastewater, reject waters from water treatment systems, non-categorical process wastewater, boiler blowdown, and metal finishing process wastewater through 10 Outfalls to the Loup River, segment LO1-10000 in the Loup River Basin via the City of Columbus publicly owned treatment works. The permit would be issued for a period of up to five years and would restrict pollutant discharges to comply with the requirements of Department regulations. The draft permit, fact sheet and other public information are available for review at NDEQ’s Lincoln Office (address below) between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. weekdays, excluding holidays.
