NOTICE OF PERMIT ISSUANCE

The Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality (NDEQ) proposes to modify the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit for the City of Lincoln Theresa Street WWTF, 2400 Theresa St., Lincoln, NE (NPDES# NE0036820; SIC 4952). The publicly owned treatment works which receives and treats domestic and industrial wastewater which discharges from three treatment trains with influent screening, headworks pumping, grit removal, primary clarification, activated sludge/nitrification, anaerobic sludge digestion, and UV disinfection. The discharge is through Outfall 001 to Salt Creek, segment LPS-20000 in the Lower Platte River Basin. The permit modification is a 15 month extension to the compliance schedule date of October 1, 2017, to set final ammonia limits. The permit modification will not change the expiration date of the permit and will continue to restrict pollutant discharges to comply with the requirements of Department regulations. The draft permit, fact sheet and other public information are available for review at NDEQ’s Lincoln Office (address below) between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. weekdays, excluding holidays. A determination to hold a hearing will be based upon factual environmental or regulatory consideration.
