NOTICE OF PERMIT ISSUANCE
The Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality (NDEQ) proposes to reissue without change a Nebraska Pretreatment Permit (NPP) to Hiland Dairy Foods Company, LLC, dba Hiland Ice Cream, 805 W. Omaha Ave., Norfolk, NE (NPP# NE0001104; SIC 2024). The ice cream producer discharges process wastewater and non-contact cooling water to the Elkhorn River, Segment EL4-10000 of the Elkhorn River Basin, via the City of Norfolk WWTF. The permit would be issued for a period of up to five years and would restrict pollutant discharges to comply with the requirements of Department regulations. The draft permit, fact sheet and other public information are available for review at NDEQ’s Lincoln Office (address below) between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. weekdays, excluding holidays. A determination to hold a hearing will be based upon factual environmental or regulatory consideration.
