APPLICATION FOR MAJOR MODIFICATION

Pursuant to the Neb. Rev. Stat. 54-2425 (4) as amended, the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality (Department) is issuing notice to provide an opportunity for any interested person to submit written comments on the proposed decision for the following concentrated animal feeding operation.

This Public Notice period will be from April 19, 2017 through May 22, 2017. Comments made should pertain to issues for which the Department has authority under the Livestock Waste Management Act (Neb. Rev. Stat. Section 54-2416 through 54-2435).

The proposed livestock waste control facility (LWCF) is located in the SE Quarter of the SW Quarter, Section 28, Township 18 N, Range 07 W, and NE Quarter of the NE Quarter, Section 33, Township 18 N, Range 07 W, Boone County, Nebraska. The application proposes the following major modification: the combination of two existing facilities.

The application indicates an existing maximum of 6,138 head of swine over 55 lbs., and proposes an increase of 2,196 head of swine over 55 lbs. and 960 head of swine under 55 lbs., for a total maximum of 8,334 head of swine over 55 lbs. and 960 head of swine under 55 lbs.

The existing LWCF includes seven buildings with shallow pits, one building with deep pit, and one holding pond.
