NOTICE OF PERMIT ISSUANCE

The Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality (NDEQ) proposes to reissue with change the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System / Nebraska Pretreatment Permit (NPDES/NPP) for Dutton-Lainson Company, 16011 W. 2nd St., Hastings, NE (NPDES/NPP# NE0000221; SIC 3499, 3411), a manufacturer of winches, couplers, oilcans, anchors and tongue jacks. The manufacturing processes are steel forming, machining, welding, parts cleaning, powder painting, zinc plating, and assembly. Outfalls 001 and 003 are the non-contact cooling water discharges which flow into the West Fork of the Big Blue River, segment BB3-30000 of the Big Blue River Basin. Outfall 002 is the pretreated wastewater from the zinc plating process and the vibratory deburring machine which discharges to the West Fork of the Big Blue River, segment BB3-30000 of the Big Blue River Basin, via the City of Hastings POTW. The permit would be issued for a period of up to five years and would restrict pollutant discharges to comply with the requirements of Department regulations. The draft permit, fact sheet and other public information are available for review at NDEQ’s Lincoln Office (address below) between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. weekdays, excluding holidays.
