NOTICE OF PERMIT ISSUANCE
The Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality (NDEQ) proposes to reissue with changes the Nebraska Pretreatment Program (NPP) permit to Cargill Meat Solutions, PO Box 760, Nebraska City, NE (NPP# NE0137685; SIC 2013), a producer of cooked and processed meat products. Wastewater from the manufacturing process flows into a lift station that pumps water to a covered anaerobic lagoon then into an aeration basin. The treated wastewater is discharged through Outfall 001 to the Missouri River, segment NE1-10000 of the Nemaha River Basin via the City of Nebraska City publically owned treatment works. The permit would be issued for a period of up to five years and would restrict pollutant discharges to comply with the requirements of Department regulations. The draft permit, fact sheet and other public information are available for review at NDEQ’s Lincoln Office (address below) between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. weekdays, excluding holidays.
