NOTICE OF PERMIT ISSUANCE
The Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality (NDEQ) proposes to issue with change a National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit to Northrop Grumman Systems Corporation, 101 Continental Boulevard, El Segundo, CA, for the Former TRW Facility, 209 Airport Rd., McCook, NE (NPDES# NE0128562 ). The TRW Facility has been closed since 1984; the groundwater remediation system pumps and treats groundwater. Treated groundwater is discharged through Outfall 001 to Kelly Creek, an Undesignated Tributary of the Republican River, segment RE3-10000, of the Republican River Basin. The permit would be issued for a period of up to five years and would restrict pollutant discharges to comply with the requirements of Department regulations. The draft permit, fact sheet and other public information are available for review at NDEQ’s Lincoln Office (address below) between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. weekdays, excluding holidays. A determination to hold a hearing will be based upon factual environmental or regulatory consideration.
