NOTICE OF PERMIT ISSUANCE

The Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality (NDEQ) proposes to reissue without change a National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permit to the State of Nebraska Game & Parks Commission Calamus State Fish Hatchery, located at 42254 Hatchery Road, Burwell, NE (NPDES# NE0124745 / SIC 0921) The hatchery raises multiple fish species for stocking in Nebraska public waters. This facility discharges aquaculture process wastewater from a 2 cell continuous discharging lagoon system through Outfall 001 to the Calamus River, segment LO2-11300 in the Loup River Basin. The permit would be issued for a period of up to five years and would restrict pollutant discharges to comply with the requirements of Department regulations. The draft permit, fact sheet and other public information are available for review at NDEQ’s Lincoln Office (address below) between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. weekdays, excluding holidays.
