NOTICE OF PERMIT ISSUANCE
The Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality (NDEQ) proposes to reissue with change a Nebraska Pretreatment Program (NPP) permit to Tecumseh Poultry, LLC (dba Smart Chicken) for the Tecumseh Poultry Processing Facility, 333 South 3rd St., Tecumseh, NE (NPP# NE0111929; SIC 2015). The facility, which slaughters and eviscerates poultry, discharges treated process wastewater through Outfall 001 to the North Fork of the Big Nemaha River, segment NE2-12500 of the Nemaha River Basin via the City of Tecumseh publically owned treatment works. The permit would be issued for a period of up to five years and would restrict pollutant discharges to comply with the requirements of Department regulations. The draft permit, fact sheet and other public information are available for review at NDEQ’s Lincoln Office (address below) between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. weekdays, excluding holidays. A determination to hold a hearing will be based upon factual environmental or regulatory consideration.
