DEE Presents Flood Debris Management Webinar July 25

July 10, 2019 -- The Nebraska Department of Environment and Energy will present a Flood Debris Management Webinar at 11 a.m. July 25th. This presentation is intended for home and small business owners as well as municipalities planning for future events.

This is the first of a series of monthly webinars planned through December 2019, and is part of a new outreach effort that is the result of input received from stakeholders through the spring 2019 public outreach and program participation survey.


WHAT: Flood Debris Management Webinar
WHEN: 11 a.m. – noon, July 25th, 2019
WHO: Erik Waiss, Environmental Assistance Coordinator for the NDEE Waste Compliance Section.

About the webinar: The Flood Debris Management seminar will start with a short background of the floods of 2019, discuss the affected areas, and the severity of the event. We will then focus on how flood debris was managed in various communities as well as programs initiated by EPA and FEMA.

About the presenter: As the Environmental Assistance Coordinator for the Waste Compliance Section, Erik Waiss takes pride in working with and responding to all requests for compliance assistance associated with Solid and Hazardous waste regulations. A Nebraska Native, Erik completed his undergraduate and graduate geosciences education from the University of Nebraska before earning his Professional Geologist’s license. After working for various environmental agencies conducting remediation work, he turned his sights toward regulation. Erik has been with the agency for nearly seven years, and looks forward to many more years providing compliance assistance.

The webinar moderator is Belinda Fowler, NDEE Small Business Environmental Assistance Coordinator.
