CONSTRUCTION AND OPERATING PERMIT

Pursuant to the Neb. Rev. Stat. 54-2425 (4) as amended, the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality (Department) is issuing notice to provide an opportunity for any interested person to submit written comments on the application for the following animal feeding operation.

This Public Notice period will be from March 15, 2012, through April 17, 2012. Comments made should pertain to issues for which the Department has authority under the Livestock Waste Management Act (Neb. Rev. Stat. Section 54-2416 through 54-2438).

The proposed livestock waste control facility (LWCF) is located in the Northeast Quarter of the Northeast Quarter, of Section 21, Township 31 North, Range 3 West, Knox County, Nebraska. The application as submitted is for a proposed maximum of 900 head of swine over 55 pounds.

The proposed LWCF consists of the construction of one building with a deep underfloor pit.

The Department has reviewed the application to ensure compliance with the Livestock Waste Management Act and Title 130–Livestock Waste Control Regulations. Currently, the Department intends to issue a Construction and Operating Permit for the proposed LWCF. Upon completing a review of any written comments received, NDEQ will make a decision on the application and respond to any comments.
