Notice is hereby given pursuant to Title 132 - Integrated Solid Waste Management Regulations, Chapter 2, section 011, that the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality (NDEQ) is proposing to renew and modify the permit to Rainwood Hill Properties, LLC, 8535 Irvington Road, Omaha, NE to operate a construction and demolition waste disposal area in accordance with Title 132, the Integrated Solid Waste Management Act and Nebraska Environmental Protection Act. The length of the permit shall be September 8, 2012 through September 7, 2017. NDEQ has received a request for permit renewal and modification from Rainwood Hill Properties, LLC to operate a construction and demolition waste disposal area at the site generally described as the NE ¼ Section 19 Township 16 North Range 12 East of the 6th Principal Meridian Douglas County, Nebraska.
The major modification is a lateral expansion that will continue westerly from the existing landfill for a distance of around 400 feet. The expansion will increase the existing landfill area and volume by 143,748 square feet (3.3 acres) and 87,300 cubic yards respectfully. It is anticipated that the lateral expansion will extend the landfill life approximately 3 to 5 years.
Based on review of the renewal and major modification permit application, all relevant file documents, and the current compliance status of Rainwood Hill Properties, LLC Construction & Demolition Waste Disposal Area, the NDEQ proposes to renew and modify this solid waste management permit. Persons may comment upon the proposed permit, or may request a hearing by writing to David Haldeman, Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality, Suite 400, The Atrium, 1200 N Street, P.O. Box 98922, Lincoln, Nebraska 68509-8922 by July 8, 2012. A request for a hearing shall clearly state the specific issues proposed to be raised at such hearing. After the public comment period and any public hearing, the Director shall make a final decision. The applicant and other interested persons shall be notified of the decision.
