Site Summary:
Gas N Shop, Waverly, became a LUST site in August 1989 during a tank closure. It is located on the Southwest corner of Highway 6 and 140th Street on the East edge of Lincoln. The site is a currently an operating gas station and fast food mart. It is a very busy gas station. Ground water depth in the area averages about 18 feet, and there is an active municipal well about 300 feet from the edge of the contamination plume. A number of technical issues are present at this site; however the store manager and Casey's are easy to work with and there is a well-defined, small plume that is only Benzene driven. This site will be a dissolved contamination cleanup. This site was awarded a PFP Contract in 2006. The cleanup was not successful resulting in this second attempt to remediate this site under PFP. Please note the fiber optics line running through the plume and a large portion of the plume resides under the highway. As we have noted with other PFP sites, the portion of the plume under the highway will have to be accounted for, or it is doubtful the reduced contamination levels after cleanup will hold below SSTLs during the monitoring period. As mentioned above, this is a very challenging site.

Site Specifications:
1. As previously mentioned, the station is very busy and space on the property is limited.

2. The property owner would like a call before you visit the site.

3. The entire lot is paved.

4. You will probably have to deal with the city, Department of Roads and the railroad for right-of-way.

5. A two year monitoring period will be required on this site due to the municipal well threat and some of the plume located under the highway, moving Northwest.
